Anjali Miller Interior Design

Project brief

When Portland based client, Anjali Miller, reached out to us her interior design brand had already achieved considerable success, often being booked weeks or even months in advance. Desite the tremendous growth, Anjali recognized the importance of taking the time at this stage to invest in her brand identity and marketing strategy. Thats when she found us. She saw a natural alignment between her vision and our expertise and and I believe we clicked from the very first video call we had to discuss her project.

strategy

This project began as all Storycraft projects began, with a deep dive into her narrative elements. We needed to set the scaffolding that would distinguish her communication from other interior designers and establish what made her unique. We did this by assigning her four unique archetypes that define her role in the world, her tone of voice in her communications, and her relationship with her clients. We then established her plot and the client transformation journey she would be taking them on.

With these incredibly vital elements in place, we could begin the rest of the design process. Knowing her narrative elements, which essentially flesh out her brand into a full-fledged character with depth, makes it much easier to dive into the design portion of her project because it gives us direction.

As an interior designer, Anjali had already provided us with a stunning mood board, enabling us to seamlessly integrate our narrative strategy with her inspiration and immediately delve into crafting distinct branding directions. We created three unique concepts, drawing inspiration from various elements in her mood board and expanding them into comprehensive ideas.

While she favored the third option, the marigold illustration (a nod to her time living in India) wasn’t precisely what she desired. We explored alternative iterations, maintaining the same name throughout the process. Our exploration involved experimenting with various submarks and illustrations. Eventually, we realized that introducing an element of inky, handwritten style was essential to infuse organic movement into the brand.

Some of the prior iterations of the logos are pictured below

What clients are saying

You are so talented, we love all the work you have done for us! Thank you for creating such beautiful logos for my company!

Then finally, with the branding and narrative strategy in place we began work on her website. As always, we built her website on Squarespace because of their easy-to-use backend that clients can easily use and edit themselves once we finish and provide quick, easy tutorial videos. We established a color palette that felt fresh and modern, with lots of cream punctuated by crisp black and rich camel.

We included more original inky swashes throughout to match her new logo and created a website that is uniquely Anjali. It features an integration with her online store platform where she can sell home goods seamlessly through her website.
